After an Extremely Long Layover

I had a layover in Chicago from 9am to 5pm. Wow. What a long time to wait in an airport. Thankfully my flight is not delayed. So many flights out Chicago have been delayed, due to weather and mechanical problems. However, it seems like I have gotten pretty good luck. Originally I was supposed to be laid over for even longer. But due to the delay in marquette, my layover here didn't seem so bad.

It should be smooth sailing from here. Can't wait to arrive in barcelona tomorrow! I'm so excited I almost can't stand it.

What a Day! And it's Not Even Over Yet.

Today I arrived in Barcelona. Luckily nothing awful happened with my flights. I rode the Bus Turistic throughout all of Barcelona. Wow. So many old buildings! You never see stuff like that in the US.

Sorry, don't remember what this building is.

This is the Palau Nacional

I found out that most of the more recent buildings were built for the 92 Olympics, and the 1888 Worlds Fair.

There are also a lot of leading science buildings here, and I think the guide said Barcelona now has 7 universities? Maybe 8? Either way, that seems like a whole lot for one city!

I thought I was leaving...

I boarded the plane flighting out of Marquette, and then was evacuated due to fog in Chicago.

Not a very great way to start off my trip. The good thing is that I had an 8 hour layover in Chicago. So I would have to be waiting anyway. I just hope that the fog does indeed lift. Apparently there are planes circuling above the O'Hare airport, that might land in nearby airports right now.

Soooo, now I wait.

Finals Over; Barcelona Here I Come!

After taking all three of my finals, I am all ready to go to Espana!

I tried checking in online for my flights, but American Arilines won't let me because it's an international flight.

Joe took me out to Vangos for my favorite wings and pizza.

It was a nice last night in Marquette before I head out.

I plan to wake up at 4:30am, straighten my hair and finish packing my bathroom supplies.

I found out that I got one of the Department of Modern Languages study abroad scholarships! It's for $200, and will be perfect for extra spending money during my time in Spain. It was a really nice surprise.

Nos vemos manana! I will have plenty of time in the airport tomorrow to continue.

How to Tour

I've been looking at a few different ways to tour the big cities like Madrid and Barcelona, with the few hours I have in each. The hop on hop off buses seem like a good idea but I'm not sure if there is a better way to do it. I found a company that rents out little go carts that you can drive throughout the city. They charge per hour, and have a gps built into them. They seem fun, but you need two people in it to rent it I think.
